Our Mission

Our Mission

The Tamil Nadu Forest and Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (TNFWCCB) is committed to safeguarding the State's ecological integrity, biodiversity, and natural heritage through a comprehensive, intelligence-led, and technology-driven approach to prevent, detect, investigate, and dismantle organized forest and wildlife crime networks.

The Bureau shall ensure the effective, transparent, and consistent enforcement of the provisions of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, the Tamil Nadu Forest Act, 1882, and other relevant environmental laws. Special emphasis shall be placed on combating wildlife trafficking, illegal hunting and poaching, illicit trade in forest produce, and crimes affecting endangered and threatened species.

To address transboundary and interstate wildlife crimes effectively, the Bureau shall strengthen institutional coordination and operational synergy with the State Police, Central Enforcement Agencies, Customs Department, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Indian Coast Guard, Coastal Security Agencies, and other relevant stakeholders. Priority shall be given to capacity building, specialized training, intelligence sharing, and the application of modern forensic, cyber-investigation, and surveillance technologies to enhance investigations, evidence collection, and successful prosecution of offenders.

Recognizing the vital role of local communities and the public in conservation, the Bureau shall actively promote community engagement, public awareness initiatives, outreach programmes, and participatory enforcement mechanisms to foster stewardship and responsibility towards forest and wildlife resources.
Special focus shall be directed towards the protection of ecologically sensitive areas, forest landscapes, coastal ecosystems, and marine biodiversity to ensure ecological balance, climate resilience, and the sustainable use of natural resources.

Through an integrated approach encompassing law enforcement, inter-agency collaboration, community participation, and scientific management, the Tamil Nadu Forest and Wildlife Crime Control Bureau aims to secure and preserve the forests, wildlife, and marine ecosystems of Tamil Nadu for present and future generations, thereby contributing to the State's sustainable development and environmental security.
